Day 7 – Try Before you buy with an AR Online Shopping Experience
One of the major drawbacks to buying items online is not being able to see and manipulate them the way you would in a real store. Tesco’s solution? Augmented Reality. The above video demonstrates how multinational grocery and general merchandise retailer Tesco came up with an innovative way to apply Augmented Reality in order to boost online sales and make customer experience more enjoyable! In 2011 they tried incorporating Augmented Reality into their online store, so that shoppers could see 3D projections of their prospective purchases before buying. Online shoppers simply had to print out a visual trigger using their desktop printer, and hold it up to their webcam to examine and manipulate the item.
Take out the Guesswork for your Customers
The same concept used by Tesco can be applied to most online stores and websites, and is perfectly suited for the sign industry. Promote stands, banners, tradeshow displays or general signage by allowing customers to examine them in 3D! Or, consider a portfolio made up of 3D projections of past projects, guaranteed to impress and attract customers.
