Ten Days of Augmented Reality: Day 4 – Outstanding Sports Apparel!
So far on Day 1, Day 2 and Day 3 we looked at a few ways that companies have applied Augmented Reality to static images in order to get people to engage with their brands. Nike took a different approach…
Day 4 – Advertise Everywhere with AR Sports Apparel!
Well known for trying to engage their customers by getting them active, Nike brought an interesting twist to the world of AR with the launch of their Augmented Reality Game, “Catch the Flash,” in Vienna, Austria. Nike had 50 real runners run through the streets of Vienna at night, for a 90 minute game where participants tried to capture images of as many of the runners as possible using a mobile app and their smartphone camera. The flash from the camera illuminated a reflective number on the back of each runner’s “Flash” jacket. The app also allowed participants to use a GPS tracker to locate the runners – the participant who “captured” the most runners won!
Make Sports Apparel Stand Out with Heat Transfer Vinyl!
Siser ReflectAll™ and EasyWeed™ Stretch Heat Transfer Vinyls are both excellent choices this type of application. These materials can be applied to stretch fabrics like lycra, spandex and nylon as well as cotton and polyester in order to create moving AR targets!
