Day 10 – Get People Hooked with Augmented Reality Games!
So far, we’ve seen that the point of a good Augmented Reality application is to capture and hold your audience’s attention so that they’ll interact with your brand. Since games consistently rank as some of the most popular and addictive smartphone applications (Angry Birds anyone?), what better way to get people engaged, than by encouraging them to play one while they’re waiting in a bus shelter, walking down the street, or just having a drink. Jameson Irish Whiskey and Cloudy Apple recently launched an Augmented Reality campaign in Australia where smartphones could be used to access a game simply by pointing them at any branded bottle – both actual bottles and printed bottles on billboards, bus shelters, posters, window graphics and even website ads! Wherever people saw the green bottle, they could launch the game, getting people to pay attention to the ad and to the brand.
